How it Works

Back to Overview
School Webmasters Website

Our goal is to make your website design and development a simple, painless process for you. The first step, once we get your purchase order, is to schedule a phone conference with your dedicated project coordinator. She will help you finalize your needs and assign expert team members to get started. Your team will include:

CopywriterShe’ll write website content that is informative, inviting, and accurate. She will also develop a sitemap to be sure we accomplish your site goals. She also lets the PC know what other information we may need from your school to make your website most effective.

Graphic DesignerHer goal is to make whatever level of website you select look professional, inviting, branded for your school, and have intuitive and easy-to-use navigation.

User Interface DesignersYour UI team (including folks from the user interface team, content layout, and graphics layout team) makes sure everything fits together seamlessly whether your site is viewed from a desktop computer or a mobile phone.

Editor & ProoferThere are several stages where proofers and editors make sure the content and images are correct, links work, and there are no errors on your new site.

ADA Compliance ReviewADA compliance experts make sure your new school website meets all WCAG 2.0 website accessibility standards (which is required by law). This includes 16 categories of compliance!

School Website ManagementNo staff training. Just authorize lots of your staff to access our customer service portal, and our team of dedicated website updaters will take care of it for you. We’ll get all the information, news, photos, videos, calendar items, newsletters, and stories onto the website. We’ll not only get it all where it belongs, but if we see a way to get more communications mileage out of something you send in, we’ll make some recommendations about that as well. We’ll even manage your social media if you’d like!

Quality ControlOur quality control folks do ongoing quality control checks, just to be sure there are no broken links, no outdated information on the site, and that the various mobile views remain pristine.

versus
Content Management System

As you can see from our standard services, we weren’t kidding when we said we’ll make it easy and painless for you. But, if you select one of the many CMS providers, you will be expected to do most of what we described in the column to the left. Here is what you can expect your CMS to provide:

TemplateYour vendor provides you a website template/design. They may migrate your existing content to the new site, but sometimes for an additional fee. So, be prepared to organize and rewrite your entire website. Some of our clients have called this "putting lipstick on a pig." So, don’t go there.

TrainingYou might receive some training (which you will probably pay extra for, by the way). This training will be on how to use their CMS software. No public relations, communications, or marketing tips. No ADA compliance training. No editing or proofing. No quality control. That’s it, folks. You are on your own.

If you have a professional communications/public relations team, a CMS website may be all you need. But even then, if your communications folks are only managing your district website and your school staff is managing your school sites (which is where your parents are looking once their children are enrolled), you will benefit from the services School Webmasters provides.

We are far less expensive than paying your staff (at hourly wages or with stipends) to get the job done right. No training. No hassle. We’ve got your back!
