Fourth of July Hotdogs are a Real Wiener! Fourth of July Hotdogs are a Real Wiener! July 3, 2012 10:00 AM | Tagged as blogs

Is your grill prepped and ready to go?
Most people plan the Fourth of July barbeque menu before they even figure out where to catch a glimpse of the fireworks. Those exploding colors of light are beautiful for sure, but let’s be honest. We’re really much more excited about the food.

While burgers, chicken, ribs, and even corn might grace the grates on your grill this year, no doubt hot dogs or sausage will make an appearance as well. Since July is also National Hot Dog month, why not host an all-wiener party? A make-your-own event replete with toppings, condiments, and different types of buns? Now that’s a party that will spark some fireworks.

So what’s your favorite hotdog brand and how does it rate? You’d be surprised at the hotdog rankings in this unofficial taste test from the Huffington Post. Yep, the brands that are the most popular didn’t rank so well. And some of our staff was pleased to see that the organic hotdogs made the top three!

Whether you like natural casings, skinless, organic, or whatever is on sale, you will love this great new way to grill them. As soon as we saw this video from Chow.com we knew we had to share. What a cool way to grill hotdogs and so easy! If you try this method tomorrow for your grilled dogs, we’d love to hear how they turned out!

Once those dogs are grilled (and you have more surface area for dog embellishments), try some of these amazing toppings:

The Boston: Boston baked beans, caramelized onions, bacon bits

The Arizonan: Jalapeños, cheddar cheese, green chili salsa

The Ruben: Thousand Island dressing, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese

The Garden: Thinly sliced tomatoes, cucumber, onions, alfalfa sprouts, mustard, & herbed aioli

The Grecian: Pepperocinis, diced red onion, diced kalmata olives, feta cheese

From all of us here at School Webmasters, we hope you have a Fourth of July Celebration that’s a real wiener!
