Keeping Your Website Current

When is the last time you updated your school or district’s website? Are parents still looking at December’s lunch menu, the 2011 football schedule, or the fall fundraising information? Keeping your website current is key in ensuring that your website is the first-stop resource for families. When people log onto a website and see outdated information, they assume it’s always that way and quit using it as a resource. They still need that information, so where do they turn? They start calling the school office. Now your administrative staff is busy answering questions about spring events, sports schedules, and the last day of school. Does your staff have extra time on their hands? Your support staff is busy. Your teachers are overwhelmed. Gathering information that will turn your website into an excellent communication resource can be challenging. Not anymore. School Webmasters will contact those key people directly and make it easy for them to get their information where it will do the most good—on your website. To understand how we can make the updates process run smoothly, here are the steps: Step 1: We Send You Monthly Reminders School Webmasters will send out monthly reminders to key school and district personnel. This is just a gentle way of letting everyone know it's time to check in with us and be sure you've sent us all the latest information. Step 2: We Make the Updates We make this simple...just login to the client area to send us the information that needs to be added or changed. Common updates include information like school menus, school newsletters, calendar items, Governing Board agendas, photos, job openings, bids, the latest news, events happening on campus, family nights, parent teacher conferences, fundraising information, or anything else that will make your site more effective. We'll make the updates/changes within two business days (usually done within hours) and let you know when your request is completed. We have twenty-four employees dedicated to making updates for our clients. In February alone, we made 1,522 updates and 292 graphic updates (changing out pictures or images). School Webmasters can keep your site looking sharp and current, which means more internet traffic and fewer office phone calls. But don’t take our word for it. Lynn Greene from Wickenburg Unified recently sent us this: "I would like to thank everyone who has worked to help us update our website. We have a couple more changes coming, but it sure feels good to know most of the information is current. I know I have kind of buried you with changes, and I appreciate your help." It’s time to put away the back-to-school barbeque tongs and take down the holiday pageant information. Let your parent community know about end-of-the-year events and educational summer tips by sending us your updates. We have twenty-four people ready and waiting. Do you?
